Android App Game- Dinofour Review

Android Puzzle platformer- Dinofour

Dinofour (1) Dinofour (2)Dinofour is a cute little puzzle game for Android, made by CRAIGEATSCRAYONS. Dinofour can be found on the Google Play Store for about $1.45 USD. Dinofour is both a platform game and a puzzle game that requires you to use your brain power to navigate the levels to reach the goal and proceed to the next area.

Dinofour has four different little Dino creatures, each with their own abilities. One can fly, one can move boulders, one can spit fire, and one can reverse gravity. The trick that makes the game fun is that you can only play as one Dino at a time, and must switch between the four different Dinos to pass each puzzle. You use the A button to switch between nearby Dinos or use it to activate your special ability, while the B button is used to jump. The objective of the game is simple, you use the different abilities of the Dinofour to navigate the stage and reach the giant egg at the end to complete the level.

Graphically, Dinofour looks a lot like Puzzle Bobble (Bust-A-Move) meets Yoshi’s island, even the music sounds a lot like Yoshi’s island so you can see that Mario’s lizard friend had a heavy influence on this game, but to me that isn’t necessarily a bad thing. The tutorial is short and sweet and teaches you how to play the game and use the characters without you spending hours learning how to play. Once you get the basic concept, they move you on to actually using what you learned in slightly more difficult levels.

The puzzles start off easy and then gradually increase in difficulty. What first seemed like a ripoff of Yoshi’s island quickly became unique and its own game. I found myself actually enjoying the puzzles and trying to figure out how to proceed to the next area without getting frustrated, overwhelmed or annoyed by the puzzle designs. The puzzles are challenging without being irritating. There are about 3 worlds and each world has eight levels, giving a total of 24 stages, plus the four tutorial levels. There are also hidden Golden eggs within some of the levels that you can find and collect for an additional challenge.

The game is just under a buck fifty to purchase the full game, so if you are looking for a fun little puzzle game for your Android to help pass the time, I would highly recommend you give Dinofour a try.
